We are helping people move into emergency temporary housing.
For people whose homes were completely destroyed or demolished in the 2024 Kumamoto earthquake, the town will help you move into a construction-type temporary house that we built, or into a private rental home. The construction-type temporary houses are still being built. If you want a private rental home, you must talk to the town first.

We are offering shelter in hotels and inns that have been secured by the national and Kumamoto prefectural governments for disaster victims whose time in shelters is becoming long. Accommodation fees are paid by public funds in principle, but food, accommodation tax, and hot spring tax are your own expense. Applications are accepted through an online form. If using the form is difficult, you can consult with the Welfare Division.

Emergency housing repair program under disaster relief law is running
For homes with moderate damage or worse from the 2024 Kumamoto earthquake, the town will pay repair costs directly to contractors to prevent damage spread from roof and wall damage. The limit is 56,400 yen per household (including tax). Do not pay the contractor yourself — you will lose this benefit. Contact the Welfare Division before you apply.

People affected by the Kumamoto earthquake on 28 July 2026 can apply for disaster certificates from 31 July 2026. Disaster certificates prove the level of damage to houses and are issued after inspection. Block walls, businesses and other structures get disaster notification certificates instead. Take many photos of the damage before you apply.

Free bathing support for people affected by the earthquake
The town and prefecture are providing free bathing support for people who cannot bathe at home because of the 2025 Kumamoto earthquake. This is for people living in shelters or whose home bathing facilities were damaged. You may need to show a certificate from your city or town office to use the service.

A temporary facility for earthquake waste from 28 July will open at Misato Town Agricultural and Mountain Village Plaza (Sakanuki). It accepts waste from 31 July (Friday) 1 PM to 30 August (Sunday), closed Mondays only. Hours: 9 AM–11:30 AM, 1 PM–3:30 PM. Waste must be sorted by type. Household waste, industrial waste, and waste from outside Misato Town are not accepted.

Farmers and management associations whose farmland, farm roads, water channels, and other farm facilities were damaged in the 2024 Kumamoto earthquake must submit a "Farmland and Agricultural Facility Disaster Report". The deadline is Friday, August 7, 2024.
What to doSubmit the "Farmland and Agricultural Facility Disaster Report" with photos showing the damage and a map showing the location of the damaged areas to the Agricultural Policy Division, Farmland Development Section by Friday, August 7, 2024.

You can download the application form, or get a copy at Central Government Office（役場中央庁舎）Agricultural Policy Division（役場中央庁舎農業政策課）, Toyō Branch Office（砥用庁舎）General Inquiry Desk（砥用庁舎総合窓口係）, or East Sub-office（東部出張所）. Fill in the required information, attach photos that show the damage to the farmland and facilities, and a map showing where the damage is. Submit these by Friday, August 7, 2024 to the Agricultural Policy Division, Farmland Development Section.
