Temporary drop-off sites for disaster waste (clean-up rubbish) from the 2026 Kumamoto Earthquake will be open at Kushi Fishing Port(串漁港) in Oyano-machi and the Matsushima General Center Aroma(松島総合センターアロマ) car park in Matsushima-machi. They open on Friday 31 July at 1:00 p.m. and close on Sunday 16 August. Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., closed on Mondays. You must sort waste by type and show ID. Only waste caused by this earthquake may be brought in. Accepted items differ by site.
About disaster waste (clean-up rubbish) disposal
Temporary drop-off sites for disaster waste (clean-up rubbish) caused by the 2026 Kumamoto Earthquake will be open from Friday 31 July to Sunday 16 August. Please follow the disposal rules when bringing in waste.
※ Items that are not on the accepted list will not be accepted. You must take them back with you.
※ For everyday household rubbish, please follow the normal rules and put it out at your designated rubbish station or other assigned place.
※ Please follow the instructions of the staff guiding traffic on site.

Sort your items by type as listed below. Follow the guidance staff and unload each item yourself at the designated area.
Sorting your waste before you load your vehicle will greatly reduce unloading time at the site. Where possible, please bring only one type of item per vehicle trip.

3. Non-combustible items (glass, ceramics) ※ Fluorescent tubes and light bulbs are not accepted.
6. Wood waste (wooden furniture, pillars)
※ Items that CANNOT be brought in:
Food waste, industrial waste, hazardous items (items that may catch fire, such as lithium-ion batteries — bring these to your local municipal office or branch office), and anything not caused by this earthquake (such as pesticides, fertilisers, tyres, fire extinguishers, fishing gear, fishing nets, etc.).
Entry routes have been set as shown in the attached documents to keep residents safe and reduce waiting times. Please follow the designated route rules when bringing in waste.
